Outcomes Framework - Feb. 2025 Updates

Why are we making changing?

When providers start tracking multiple different metrics at multiple parts of the organization, it can be difficult to keep track of all of these different metrics.

As an example, providers may track:

  • Top level PHQ-9 and GAD-7 progress
  • Outcomes on the SWAN for a clinic which primarily treats ADHD
  • Additional metrics required by funders

Large providers may have in excess of 20 different metrics focusing on different parts of the organization.

With this many metrics, users may find it hard to keep track of the different metrics, and be able to zoom in on individual metrics, while still getting a higher level view of what’s happening at their organization.

What is being changed?

Multiple Entity Selection

Users can now select multiple different entities when creating an outcomes metric to track, for example, outcomes for:

  • “Sunshine Hospital”, the top level provider.
  • “Acute Stabilization Unit”, a particular program inside Sunshine Hospital
  • “Dr Smith”, a practitioner who works at both the Acute Stabilization Unit and the Outpatient Therapy unit. Outcomes will include data from both ASU and Outpatient.
  • “Adult CBT Bootcamp”, a treatment track.
  • “Acute Stabilization Unit” + “Dr Smith” will include only patients of Dr Smith’s who were treated inside the ASU.
  • “Acute Stabilization Unit” + “Dr Smith” + “Adult CBT Bootcamp” will include only patients of Dr Smith’s who were treated inside the ASU and enrolled in Adult CBT Bootcamp

Searching For Metrics

There is now a search box which will search on the metric name.

More Advanced Filtering of Metrics

The metrics dashboard shows only metrics that are related to the currently selected entity, which is shown by the box at the top of the page:

Selecting a different entity will change the visible metrics, but will not affect the data in those metrics, which is controlled by the target set of entities for each metric.

Metrics can be related to entities in one of three ways:

  • Items specific to that entity. For example, if you select “Acute Stabilization Unit” in the entity box, you will see metrics that are specified for exactly “Acute Stabilization Unit” - without any additional entities selected.
  • Sub-items that contribute to that entity. For example, if you select “Acute Stabilization Unit”, you will see items that are configured to look at data for “Acute Stabilization Unit and Dr Smith” or “Acute Stabilization Unit and Adult CBT Bootcamp”.
  • Rollup items that this entity contributes to. For example, if you select “Acute Stabilization Unit”, you will see items that include the ASU, like a metric for Sunshine Hospital

In order to change which of these options you see, there is now a button on the metrics dashboard:

Clicking this exposes the following options:

By checking and unchecking these boxes you can look for specific metrics.
