Outcomes Framework - Treatment Episode Response

Treatment Episode Response denotes the extent to which a patient improves, irrespectively of the presence or absence of symptoms*. Only Numerical and Categorical Scales are be used for Treatment Episode Response.

There are many ways to measure Treatment Episode Response, but for ease and consistency, Mirah has decided to define Treatment Episode Response across all scales in the following way:

  • For scales with an RCI or other trend mechanism, a trend of improving denotes a Treatment Episode Response.
  • For numerical scales without an RCI, a reduction of 50% or more from baseline is considered a Treatment Episode Response.
  • For scales without either of these mechanisms, no Treatment Episode Response can be calculated.

The intent is that users can simply select ‘Treatment Episode Response’ rather than having to know the exact psychometrics of the scale in question.
